The Japanese nuclear tragedy
Because the tsunami, nuclear plants was damaged in Japan. This damage in one of them produces leaking of radiation. At the beginning, the Japanese authorities don’t say the real magnitude of radioactivity in the nearby area. The situation becomes more dramatic, whit an increasing in levels of radiation. They can’t get cold the reactors, and a group of workers put in danger there life to try down the temperature. Helicopters use sea water to get cold the reactors, but from many days the reactors don’t get cold.
The levels of radiation was very high, and can produce intoxication by radiation and generate alteration in pregnant. The government recommended close windows and doors, use mask and take medicaments to eliminate the radioactive iodine. I think that the Japanese government didn’t take all the measures to protect the citizen’s health. They can evacuate a mayor area to safeguard the people health.
When I compare with Chernobyl, the causes are different, because in the Japanese case was a great natural disaster that cause the problem. But in terms of the impact, the Japanese case has equal or greater level of radiation that Chernobyl. This can do that the impact in the people’s health can be very great, and will be seen in a large period of time.
Interesting blog, it reminds me of Akira Kurosawa , quote: "Tragedy is part of Japanese life which has been frequented by earthquakes, tsunamies and wars".
ReplyDeleteI tried to write a blog about it, hope you also like it in http://stenote.blogspot.com/2018/04/an-interview-with-akira.html.
